CHAPTER 1
Abuja,
the capital territory of Nigeria, is a city of contrasts. On one hand, it is
known for its high cost of living, with luxurious homes and expensive amenities
all of which favor the wealthy elite in society. The difference in class
between the rich and the poor is stark, with the poor struggling to make ends
meet in a city where good housing is out of reach for many. The middle class is
often considered poor in Abuja, as the cost of living consumes a large portion
of their income. For the poor in Abuja, life is a constant struggle. They are
forced to live in cramped, rundown homes or on the streets, unable to afford
the high rents and property prices of the city. They often go without basic
necessities, such as clean water and electricity, and struggle to provide for
their families. Meanwhile, the rich live in opulent mansions, with all the
amenities and comforts one could desire. It is a city of haves and have-nots,
with a vast gap between the two.
Ese, graced by beauty and perfection,
chocolate in complexion, with rich shoulder length natural African hair. A
young woman with full lips and beautiful body curves. She is a bright young
woman 20 years old. She’s the only daughter of her mother, a single mom who had
the struggle to care for her daughter after her husband's death. Ese and her
mother lived in Abuja, Nigeria. They belonged to the poor class and struggled
to make ends meet, their lives were marked by poverty and strife. Despite their
difficult financial circumstances, Ese managed to complete her secondary
education. However, the road to higher education was not an easy one for her as
the little her mother could raise was never enough. Her struggles have led her
to snatch at, without much thought or spare.
Despite
their financial struggles, Ese was determined to go to university, she never
ceased to fight and pursue her dreams of being a Nurse for a better future in
the United Kingdom. She worked hard in her studies and was eventually accepted
into the University of Abuja School of Nursing, one of the top nursing
universities in the country.
However, there was one major obstacle
standing in Ese's way: the cost of tuition and other fees. Ese's mother simply
didn't have the money to cover the costs of Ese's education. They had no family
or friends who were able to help them out financially, and Ese's mother was
struggling to make ends meet as it was. Ese was devastated when she learned
that she wouldn't be able to attend university due to her financial
circumstances. She had worked so hard to get to this point, and it seemed like
all of her dreams were being shattered. Ese's mother was heartbroken as well.
She had always hoped that her daughter would be able to go to university and
have a better life than she had.
As the deadline for her tuition payments
drew closer, Ese became more and more desperate for financial aid. She had been
working a variety of part-time jobs over the past few months, but the pay was
never enough to defeat the obstacle that looms, deep and steep. The jobs always
left her feeling drained and exhausted.
She
began to worry that she wouldn't be able to come up with the money in time to
start the semester at the University of Abuja, and she didn't know what else to
do.
She
dreams of a future that is comfortable and feasible, where she can reach for
the stars and not just survive. She takes on any job that comes into view in
search of a better life, wherever it goes. But deep down, she yearns for
stability. A life free from worry and strife.
